Master class on Canvas: “We’ve got a pattern, which can be applied to any business project"

“We’ve got a pattern, which can be applied to any business project and check its ‘sustainability’”

We are sure that many take interest in the question, “How to implement successfully a startup idea in IT?” On July 6, participants of the workshop at BIONIC University on how to apply the technology of Canvas business model got answers to this question from Oleg Afanasyev and Vadim Gorenko, partners at Profiles International, Ukraine and the CIS region. Within 3 hours of intensive teamwork, the newly formed teams elaborated three startup ideas in details. Participants passed the full work cycle of the project: identified consumers and partners → made preliminary planning of the budget and promotion strategy → presented the project to potential investors (pitching).

The main thing is a positive supply from the event coaches and participants. It was surprising how the things we tried to attain over the long period of our project planning saw the light very quickly during practical work in teams and with coaches. Speed is a very important component of any startup, and time is the most valuable investment.

A curious conclusion: a good team may turn virtually any idea into a prospective project. Oleg and Vadim are definitely great guys, they work professionally as moderators. The experience of teamwork was extremely interesting, and the obtained technology (Canvas) will be useful for development of several startups I’ve launched).

According to the coach Oleg Afanasyev, “Every startup has right to death!” The stage of business model creation is probably the most important. At this stage, it is necessary to define the project strengths and reveal its weaknesses in advance. Canvas technique helps to transfer the idea onto paper and structure it. The purpose is to create the simplest functioning model.

Having only 3 hours of free time and 4 persons who know absolutely nothing about your business, it is possible to make a decision easily on how to live further and how it is better to express the idea, which invention could take many long winter evenings. I believe that Canvas is a treasured technique in this sense, especially considering the ocean of information in which we, modern people, constantly surf.
