OPEN DAY from HP at BIONIC University: course towards entrepreneurship
On June 21, BIONIC University together with HP held another OPEN DAY dedicated to the entrepreneurship course. Currently the course offers two programs to students – a program from CISCO “Starting a business”, open discussion of which took place last week; and a program from HР entitled “HР Life”, which was presented at the meeting.
The course organizers are confident of potential of Ukrainian entrepreneurs. However, development of this potential requires preparation that meets latest demands of professional community. Valeriya Zabolotna, curator of BIONIC University, highlighted the following facts:
“Ukraine is a number one country on quantity of certified IT-specialists per one thousand of citizens. Nevertheless, 50% of the first year’s academic programs for engineering disciplines go out of date by the third year of study. For example, until quite recently nobody could imagine the necessity of preparing specialists on cloud technologies. Since amounts of information double every two years, we come closer to the point when students will have to acquire skills for professions that even do not exist, yet. That's why at BIONIC University we created a new format of studying that lets you work on improving your skills continuously through short-term specialized seminars, without having to leave your full-time day job and studies.”
Vladimir Krasnobrizhiy, consulting services sales manager at НР Ukraine, also pointed at increase in volumes of information received by users. “The amount of knowledge in the world increases constantly, this leads to significant growth of competition. Your startup can simply get lost in the huge amount of data, which users have to process daily. There is only one opportunity not to fall behind – it is constant self-education,” he considers.
HP has been engaged in educational projects for a long time, but last year it managed to get to the new level – mobile learning. From now on Internet users have an opportunity to study whenever and wherever they are – all the necessary materials, case studies, and practical tasks for development of administrative skills are stored online at http://www.life-global.org. Soon HP together with BIONIC University will make a next step – it will switch to blended learning. Every second week students of BIONIC University will receive their task. They will be able to do it at any time that suits them. And in two weeks, they will have an opportunity to discuss the task with real experts, clear up all questions, and to discuss possibilities of the obtained knowledge use in real life in Ukraine.
“HР Life” program consists of several separate modules combined in four groups: “Finance”, “Marketing”, “Business Operations”, and “Communications”. It allows choosing what you actually need. Language of online training is English, in the classroom – at the wish of students.
The main difference between “HР Life” program and CISCO “Starting a business” program is mobility.
“CISCO program is more academic, it requires constant presence of students in the classroom while “HР Life” in fact can be completed at home, attending classes once in two weeks only,” notes Valeriya Zabolotna.
Both programs are free of charge, besides it is possible to take them simultaneously. Students will receive two certificates upon graduation – from BIONIC University and from the partner company.
Launch of “HР Life” program is scheduled for July and CISCO “Starting a business” program – for autumn 2013. Programs are already open for application. Key selection criteria will be motivation and ideas for own business. Experience in information and communication technologies would be an asset.
